As we welcome the new academic year, we invite the VU community to get moving, try new activities, and take care of both their physical and mental well-being. We welcome not only first-year students, but everyone who has promised themselves this year to start exercising, move more, or pay more attention to their well-being.

The traditional interfaculty Rector’s Cup basketball tournament at Vilnius University is in full swing, bringing together students from different faculties for a shared competition. This year, teams from 12 faculties are taking part.

If you’re looking for a way to move more and try something new, now is the perfect time. At the Vilnius University Health and Sports Center (M. K. Čiurlionio St. 21), there are still spots available in self-defense, boxing, and body balance classes! It’s not only a chance to strengthen your body, but also to discover the joy of movement together with others.

Vilnius University Health and Sports Center, together with the Baltic region’s leading nuts and dried fruits company Arimex, is inviting VU students and staff for the second consecutive year to take on a shared challenge – to prepare over two months and complete either a 5 km or 10 km distance at the Vilnius Half Marathon on May 23.

On February 27, 2026, at 5:30 PM, a one-minute bench press competition will take place at the Vilnius University Sports Hall (M. K. Čiurlionio St. 21, VU SSC premises). All Vilnius University students and alumni who wish to test their abilities and experience the excitement of a competitive sporting atmosphere are invited to take part in this strength challenge.
