HISTORY
Team History
Table tennis has long been popular at the University. It began to be actively practiced in 1949, when A. Saunoris – multiple (19-time) Lithuanian champion, winner of 13 USSR Championship medals, silver medalist at the European Championship, and Sports Master – began his studies at the Faculty of Medicine.
Throughout the years, Vilnius University table tennis players have successfully competed in various national and international tournaments. The University has trained 16 Sports Masters of table tennis and 38 Candidates for Sports Master. Members of the team proudly represent the Republic, higher education institutions, and Vilnius city championships. The University women’s table tennis team are regular prize-winners at student championships.
