HISTORY
Team History
Vilnius University women’s basketball players have always been known for their fighting spirit and will to win. Since 1972, under the leadership of the legendary basketball player L. Gedminienė, they claimed the title of Lithuania’s strongest team 13 times.
Today, these glorious traditions are continued by a new generation of players, led by world veterans’ basketball champion Loreta Berūkštienė.
In 2018, after a two-decade break, the VU women’s team triumphed in the jubilee 20th Lithuanian Student Basketball League Championship, winning gold medals for the very first time. In addition, the team successfully competes in the B Division of the Lithuanian Women’s Basketball League.
