HISTORY

Shooting sports have deep traditions at Vilnius University, with G. Augustinavičiūtė considered a pioneer. She began her training at the university and, within a couple of years, was already competing in Riga, Lviv, and Moscow. From 1950, she became the national champion four times.

Currently, the university’s shooting team wins Lithuanian higher education championships and claims champion titles in individual events. Individual event winners include Gerda Židovainytė, Saulenė Taruškaitė, Giedrius Biconas, Karolis Girulis, Jekaterina Ždanova, Justina Ramanauskaitė, Svetlana Klimova, and others.
