In the final match, the VU basketball players faced the multiple-time champions – the Vytautas Magnus University (VDU) team. In the first half, our players showed great determination, even leading 24:21 and 30:29. However, just before halftime, VDU launched a successful run and gained a double-digit lead – 50:38. In the second half, the opponents extended their advantage even further, and the game ended with a score of 108:86.
Despite the loss in the final, VU’s performance was impressive. Nojus Kulieša took the lead role, scoring 20 points along with 6 rebounds and 7 assists. Vincentas Adomaitis added 15 points and 9 rebounds, while Dovydas Rimkus contributed 10 points.
“We gave it our all and did everything we could. I have no complaints about my players – they were outstanding. They rewrote Vilnius University’s history, and I am proud of them. Although we lost in the final, we still have something to celebrate and be happy about,” said VU head coach Rimantas Kaminskas after the game.
The silver medals for the vice-champions are a major achievement for the Vilnius University basketball team, who proved their strength and ambition. The winners and prizewinners were awarded by the heads of the Lithuanian Basketball Federation and the Lithuanian Student Sports Association.
