On 23 January 2026, the FTMC Winter Cross-Country Run for employees of academic institutions will take place. If one of your New Year’s resolutions is to be more physically active, this will be a great opportunity to start putting it into practice!

If running is not your thing, we invite you to choose the 3 km walking route. It is perfectly suitable for Nordic walking, but you are also welcome to walk without poles. If you don’t have poles but would like to try them out, we will have several pairs available on site (please indicate during registration if you will need poles). Feel free to ask upon arrival!

We will be running (and walking) along a very scenic route in Sapieginė Park. After the event, all participants will be treated to hot traditional Lithuanian buckwheat porridge (with or without cracklings) and tea.

You can view the 3, 6, and 9 km course loop by following this link:

Important: the event is intended only for employees of academic institutions, not for students.

Location: Plytinės g. 27, Vilnius (near the VILNIUS TECH Faculty of Transport Engineering)

Meeting time: 23 January, 11:30 (changing clothes if needed; bib number distribution; warm-up)

Start: 12:00

Request: in order to promote sustainability, we will use reusable bib numbers, so please return them after the event.

ADDITIONAL INVITATION: For those who would like to practice Nordic walking, we are organizing a ~45-minute training session on 16 January at 11:30. We will meet at the square in Vilnius between Saulėtekio al. 3 and 7 (between FTMC and VU GMC). If you wish to participate, please indicate this in the same registration form above and specify whether you will need walking poles.

Responsibility is an essential part of the event. Each participant assumes responsibility for any possible incidents during the cross-country run, including collisions with other participants, falls, etc., as well as any resulting injuries and/or health issues. When choosing footwear, we recommend taking weather conditions into account. Surfaces may be slippery (snow, ice, etc.), so shoes with deeper tread or spikes are advisable.

By signing the registration form, each participant confirms that they:

  • are sufficiently trained and in good health, with no medical restrictions prohibiting completion of the chosen distance in this event;

  • waive any claims against their employer related to injuries that may occur as a result of participating in this cross-country run.

We look forward to seeing you!
