On February 25, the awards ceremony for the best student-athletes took place at Vilnius University. The festive event was held in the Small Aula, where award nominees, their coaches, family members, and members of the University community gathered. The ceremony was attended by Rector Prof. Rimvydas Petrauskas, Vice-Rector Prof. Vilmantė Pakalniškienė, and Chancellor Raimundas Balčiūnaitis, as well as Director of the Health and Sports Center, Assoc. Prof. Ramunė Žilinskienė, who congratulated the athletes.
The best VU athletes of 2024 were recognized as follows:
Aerobic Gymnastics – Aušrinė Budzevičiūtė, a third-year student at the Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics, awarded for second place in the Lithuanian Championship in the adult FIG group. Coach: T. Gritėnienė.
Judo, Sambo – Rokas Kašėta, a first-year student at the Faculty of Medicine, awarded for second place in the Lithuanian Students' Sambo Championship. Coach: E. Tukačiauskas.
Fencing – Lurdė Grabovskytė, a third-year student at the Faculty of Law, awarded for first place in the Lithuanian Championship and a high placement in the European Championship. Coach: R. Kniukšta.
Football – Džiugas Omilevičius, a first-year student at the Business School, awarded for third place in the Lithuanian Students' Football League and the title of Best Player. Coach: R. Turskis.
Rowing – Jonas Šaparavičius, a fourth-year student at the Faculty of Medicine, awarded for outstanding performances in the World and European U23 Championships. Coach: R. Kniukšta.
Sporting Shooting – Valerija Dušenko, an alumna, awarded for third place in the Students' Championship. Coach: R. Kniukšta.
Track and Field – Lukas Sutkus, a second-year student at the Faculty of Chemistry and Geosciences, awarded for breaking records and high placements in international competitions. Coach: J. Armonienė.
Women's Basketball – Justina Miknaitė, a graduate student at the Life Sciences Center, awarded for achievements with the Lithuanian Women's National Team. Coach: L. Berūkštienė.
Women's Volleyball – Austėja Basevičiūtė, a second-year student at the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration, awarded for high placements in national and international championships. Coach: G. Gatelienė.
Orientation Sports – Tadas Dementavičius, a first-year student at the Faculty of Chemistry and Geosciences, awarded for victories in Baltic States and Lithuanian competitions. Coach: R. Kniukšta.
Swimming – Vilita Vainauskaitė, a second-year student at the Faculty of Medicine, awarded for successful performances at the SELL Games and Stanislav Lohvynenko, a second-year student at the Business School, awarded for winning two gold medals at the SELL Games, second place at the WIUC in Rome, and being the Lithuanian champion. Table Tennis – Lukas Laketčenko, a first-year student at the Business School, awarded for second place in the World Student Championship. Coach: D. Liepinaitienė.
Weightlifting – Taru Riipinen, a third-year student at the Faculty of Medicine, awarded for performances in European and Finnish Championships. Coaches: R. Cijūnėlis, L. Šverčiauskas.
Chess – Lukas Stauskas, a fourth-year student at the Faculty of Chemistry and Geosciences, awarded for winning the gold medal at the European Student Games. Coach: J. Armonienė.
Tennis – Gerda Zykutė, a fourth-year student at the Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics, awarded for achievements in the Lithuanian Student Championship. Coach: Vigandas Telksnys.
Men's Basketball – Kristupas Kenešis, a fifth-year student at the Faculty of Medicine, awarded for his achievements in the SELL 3x3 Championship and the Capital City Basketball League. Coach: R. Kaminskas.
Men's Volleyball – Mantas Donėla, a fourth-year student at the Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics, awarded for victories in both beach and indoor volleyball championships. Coach: T. Donėla.
