Vilnius University Health and Sport Centre and VU students invite you to participate in the 2nd Vilnius University Students Chess Championship.
The tournament is held with purpose to increase popularity of chess among students and find out the strongest Vilnius University’s chess players. Current students of VU can participate: this includes all the cycles and forms of studies, with students on academic leave or suspended studies. Students that study in VU on exchange programs are also invited.
Tournament has two stages:
- Qualification stage online, in www.lichess.org, takes place on the 30th of September (Wednesday), at 7:00 p.m. This stage uses lichess.org server. There participants have to join Vilnius University Online Chess Club. When joining, player has to specify his identity, cycle of studies, course and citizenship (if not Lithuanian). Those who do not submit the information are denied access to the club. After joining, player has to also join a tournament via this link.
- Final stage over the board takes place on the 3rd of at October (Saturday), at 11:00 a.m. at VU Health and Sport Center (Sauletekis av. 2, Vilnius).
Qualification stage tournament is held with 9 round Swiss system according to lichess.org rules. Time control: 5 min base time + 3 s increment. Final stage tournament is held with Round Robin according to FIDE Rapid Chess rules. Time control: 5 min base time + 3 s increment. Tournament to be included in FIDE rating calculations.
Registration is open until 30th of September, 6:30 p.m. Participants have to join online VU chess club (see no. 1 above) and join the tournament until 7:00 p.m.
