This Friday, the 2023 Lithuanian Student Football League Futsal Cup tournament will start with the match between Vilnius University and the Lithuanian Military Academy at the Vilnius TECH sports arena. Nine educational institutions will compete for the title this year - four from the capital, four from Kaunas and one from Klaipėda.
"On the one hand, it's a pity that we won't have representatives from Šiauliai this year, but on the other hand, names that haven't been heard in a long time have returned to the tournament. Emotions have never been lacking in futsal tournaments, so we want to wish that emotions and excitement will lead students forward this year as well", said LSFL president Rimantas Turskis.
By February 17, the quartets of Vilnius and Kaunas regions will find out which two participants from both cities will be delegated to the final stage, and for whom the tournament will end. Klaipėda University, which received a direct ticket to the final stage, will join this quartet and the new champion will be revealed in the five-team tournament on February 18-19.
"Since the teams will have to play 200 minutes in two days (the tournament will be held in a round-robin format), the length of the reserve bench and the contribution of bench players will play a very important role in achieving the title," said R. Turskis.
Tournament participants: Vilnius University, Vilnius TECH University, Lithuanian Military Academy, Mykolas Romeris University, Kaunas University of Technology, Lithuanian Sports University, Vytautas the Great University, Kaunas College and Klaipėda University.
